Share 0As part of the Kwara state government’s efforts at promoting agricultural produce and making it available at a cheaper price to the people, the government has signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU) with a local firm, PRISMAC Farms for the commencement of snailery and assorted juice production for local consumption in the state.
At the ceremony, Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Professor Mohammed Gana Yisa who signed the MoU on behalf of the state government tasked Kwarans outside the state to come home and invest in agriculture in order to boost the economy of the state.
Gana, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Ayotunde Oyeniyi said already the state government has leased out 29 hectares of land to a private local firm in Omu-Aran, for planting, breeding and raising of agricultural products such as Passion Fruits Grape Vine, Sweet Oranges, Pawpaw, Hybrid Guava and Snailery, Mangoes, Piggery, Fishery and Animal husbandry.
He noted that PRISMAC Farms was coming at a time Governor Bukola Saraki’s agricultural transformation programme was in top gear with the ultimate aim of ensuring food security for the nation and commended the Chief Executive Of the farms, Chief Ademola Bamidele for coming home to contribute his quota to the development of the state.
Earlier, Bamidele promised that the company would use the farm for the purpose of the agreement, stressing that the company would not let the government down.
According to him, the farm had proposed the construction of a 37 room receptions centre to make the locality conducive for living as he appreciate the support of the state government in his bid, hoping that there would be more partnership of both local and foreign investors to improve the human capacity building programmes initiated by the governor’s mechanised farming projects.
